Report: Warriors Expected to Lose Key Player

With Donte DiVincenzo expected to decline his $4.7M player option, the Golden State Warriors guard will hit free agency this summer with an opportunity to secure a bigger contract. In a recent report, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype said DiVincenzo is expected to be too expensive for the Warriors to retain, meaning the versatile guard will likely be elsewhere next season.

DiVincenzo appeared in 72 games for the Warriors last season, averaging 9.4 PPG, 4.5 APG, and 3.5 APG on 39.7% from deep. DiVincenzo was a key piece to Golden State's bench, also making 36 starts as well. While DiVincenzo's production did drop off in the playoffs, he gave the Warriors a solid performance in their elimination game vs. the Los Angeles Lakers, helping keep that one close while others struggled.

The Warriors have a lot of questions to answer this summer, and while filling the DiVincenzo role (assuming he walks) is not their biggest concern, it is something that will need to be addressed either internally or externally. A bigger role for Moses Moody could be in play if DiVincenzo leaves, as the young guard emerged as one of Steve Kerr's trusted rotation pieces in the playoffs.

It's unclear exactly what type of contract DiVincenzo is looking at this summer, but according to this recent report, it could be out of Golden State's price range.
