Steve Kerr Gets Brutally Honest About Warriors vs. Lakers

With the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors set to tip-off the NBA preseason on Saturday, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr got brutally honest about their playoff matchup last postseason.

"The Lakers exposed us," Kerr said. "We were not a very well-rounded team last year. Thinking about that series, watching it, they bottled us up defensively and we didn't have a counter. So we gotta make sure we have counters this year."

After a hard fought seven-game series win over the Sacramento Kings, the Warriors looked a tier below the Lakers. Unable to counter what Los Angeles threw at them defensively, Golden State did not have much going outside of Steph Curry, who even shot poorly for his standards.

Hoping to learn from this series loss, the Warriors understand they need to be much better in order to reach their goal of winning a championship. Understanding what it takes to be a title team, the Warriors were never able to sustain that level of dominance for any stretch last season, and it eventually caught up to them in the Western Conference Semi-Finals.

While this preseason game against the Lakers will be meaningless when it comes to how Golden State lines up with the team that sent them home, it will be an opportunity to get some quality reps with a new look group.
