In this story:
The Golden State Warriors fell to the Denver Nuggets on Christmas afternoon, and will face the Miami Heat on Thursday. Prior to this matchup against the Heat, Golden State Announced that the team had sent Gui Santos back down to the Santa Cruz Warriors. In their statement, the team wrote the following:
"The Golden State Warriors have assigned forward Gui Santos to the team's G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, it was announced today. In 15 games (all starts) with Santa Cruz this season, Santos is averaging 14.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 28.7 minutes per game. He has appeared in four games with Golden State, averaging 3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 5.5 minutes per game."

Santos has played well for Santa Cruz, but has not seen much time at the NBA level. With Golden State already playing a tight rotation that often does not allow for more proven players to get minutes, Santos does not have a direct path to playing time at the NBA level, but will continue to work on his game in the G-League.
The Warriors have sent Santos up and down quite a bit, having him active in the NBA when needed, but also making sure he does not miss out on valuable game reps in the G-League just so he can sit on the bench in Golden State.
