Washington Wizards get Destroyed by the Cleveland Cavaliers Behind Three-Point Shooting Explosion

The Washington Wizards lose 140-101 to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Washington Wizards (6-27) drop the first of two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers (19-15) this week.

It got really ugly in the third quarter for the Wizards as they let one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the NBA light them up from deep eventually losing 140-101.

Giving up 140 points is becoming a common occurrence for Washington.

Normally the Cavaliers shoot just 34.6 percent from three-point range but tonight they became the 2015-2016 Golden State Warriors.

Unfortunately, a lot of teams look that way playing the Wizards this year.

Cleveland couldn't miss for a lot of the game shooting 47 percent from the arc.

Even when they did miss, the Cavaliers dominated Washington for rebounds ending up with a 35-17 advantage in second chance points.

They dominated the entire game, the only category the Wizards were better in was turnovers, having one less.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Max Strus (1) drives against Washington Wizards center Daniel Gafford (21) in the first quarter at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

At one point Washington was down by 44 points.

Every time it felt like the Wizards defense maybe got a stop Cleveland would bully them out of the way and use their active hands to get a second, third and sometimes even fourth chance.

In the fourth quarter it got super sloppy as Washington couldn't even box out on a free throw.

But on the bright side at lease some younger guys got playing time.

The Cavaliers ended up making 20 three-pointers

Six players for Cleveland were in double-digits in scoring including three going for over 20 points.

Not a single Wizards player had 20 points, as forward Kyle Kuzma ended up the leading scorer with 16 points in only 22 minutes.

The Cavaliers got a huge night from guard Max Strus, who ended up with 24 points and made 6-for-8 three-pointers.

Cleveland center Jarrett Allen also had a monster game nearing a triple-double with 17 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists.

Washington is going to have to figure something out quick as they are playing the Cavaliers again in two days right back at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
