Washington Wizards Reveal 2023-2024 City Edition Uniforms

Washington Wizards revealed their City Edition uniforms for the 2023-2024 season.

Every year since Nike took over as the uniform and apparel maker for the NBA in 2017, they have released City Edition Uniforms for every team including the Washington Wizards.

The idea of the uniforms is to connect the Wizards franchise and current team to the history and culture of The District of Colombia.

In this year's edition, the uniforms are an ode to the 40 boundary stones that were put in place to mark the original boundary lines of The District of Colombia.

The stones were placed starting in 1791 by Andrew Ellicott and his team using African-American mathematician and astronomer Benjamin Banneker's calculations to establish the boundary points.

After being purchased by the United States the boundary stones became the first government monuments in the country's history.

“We are proud to bring what we think is an under told story of our great city’s history into the forefront,” said Monumental Sports & Entertainment Chief Marketing Officer Hunter Lochmann in a NBA.com article. “Not many NBA jerseys can claim inspiration from the father of our country, George Washington, as well as highlight the work of a historic figure in Benjamin Banneker whose name adorns many D.C. institutions. These boundary stones defined the District that is displayed on our jersey and gives our city its nickname."

The jerseys will be used at a few select games this year.

They also have three red stars on the side of the jersey and shorts representing the flag of Washington D.C.

A color scheme of grey, black, teal and a mix of copper put the uniform together beautifully.

Along with the jerseys, Washington will also be unveiling a new City Edition court on these days with the exception of the In-Season Tournament games.

Together they did a pretty good job with this year's City Edition Uniforms, and it represents an awesome part of The District and its history.
