Despite The Spurs Record, This Could Be A Trap Game For The Wizards

1. The Spurs are ranked next to last in the Western Conference. What have been some of their issues this season?

They don't have the same level of talent as the other 29 teams. There's not one player on the Spurs roster you can put on another team and say he's the best player. There's very few rosters in the league where you could plant a Spur and even say he's the second-best player. It's a bunch of role players competing for one another. The fact they're well-coached is a big reason why they've played as well as they have.

Injuries have been an issue too, but that's why they've been very bad instead of just bad.

2. Are there any indicators that Coach Gregg Popovich may be looking to retire after this season?

Not that I've seen. He's always talking about the future, so it sounds like he's planning to stick around, but I think he's going to evaluate his situation after the season, like many around the league will in their own situation.

3. What is a key match-up to look for in tonight's Wizards vs Spurs game?

Well, it's hard to answer this question because it's hard to tell who will be healthy enough to play. Should Keldon Johnson play, limiting him will be key. Usually when the Spurs win, Johnson is a big reason why. If Deni Avdija grabs the Johnson defensive assignment, his defense will be crucial.

4. Could this game be considered a trap game for the Wizards?

Absolutely. Do not look at the Spurs' record and automatically think it's a win. The Spurs scored 131 points in a win earlier this month against the Orlando Magic. They also overcame a 24-point deficit to beat the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. Even the Denver Nuggets, with Nikola Jokic healthy, fell into the Spurs trap. The Wizards need this win more than a man needs water in the desert. So you can't underestimate anyone at this point in the year.

5. What is your prediction for the game?

I think the Wizards will pull out the win. The Spurs have won just six games this year on the road and the Wizards are due for a victory. Get one against the Spurs and use it to build momentum into the last two weeks of the season.
