Should The Wizards Acquire PG Chris Paul?

Many wonder what does it take to be successful. Some may even wonder what exactly does it take to be relevant or important. In the NBA, you want to matter and feel good about yourself. You also want to be on the big stage where all the flashing lights are at. Sure, you should feel good about making it to the NBA. But you should want to play in meaningful games rather than collect a check every week.

The NBA Playoffs is where amazing happens. There are 15+ Former Wizards That Made The 2023 Playoffs this season. Should it be 16 soon? The Phoenix Suns NBA Title hopes and dreams ended the other night against who many people consider the real NBA MVP, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. The Suns simply ran out of bodies. They were already thin as far as depth goes, but to lose your anchor down low in DeAndre Ayton and your floor general in Chris Paul was certainly going to be detrimental.

Now that their season is over, there are already reports that the Phoenix Suns will look to trade both Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton. The Wizards are pretty solid at Center rather it’s Kristaps Porzingis or Daniel Gafford down low. However, they certainly could use some help at Point Guard. Does a trade to get Chris Paul help this Wizards team? Should they even decide to pull the trigger on a deal involving an older point guard?

When Chris Paul arrived in Phoenix, the success came immediately. Now he isn’t the player he once was with the New Orleans Hornets and certainly not the player he was with the LA Clippers. However, his impact on any team will still be known, felt, and evident. He is the floor general the Washington Wizards need. Paul is someone that can control pace, tempo, and just the makeup of a game. If things are going bad, he can control the offense and get things in order and keep the composure of the team in tact as well. Look at it this way. It is much harder to make the finals in the West than the East. Chris Paul led the Suns to the finals a few years ago. The Wizards have a lot more depth than the Suns had. If CP3 can get it done with them, he is certain to be able to duplicate the success in Washington.
