The last time the Washington Wizards were 3-0 in preseason play was in the 2017-2018. Let’s take a short trip down memory lane to see who was on the team’s roster.

Forward Chris McCullough #1

Guard John Wall #2

Guard Bradley Beal #3

Guard Ty Lawson #4

Forward Markieff Morris #5

Forward Devin Robinson #7

Guard Tim Frazier #8

Guard Ramon Sessions #9

Forward Kelly Oubre Jr #12

Center Marcin Gortat #13

Forward/Center Jason Smith #14

Guard Jodie Meeks #20

Forward Otto Porter Jr #22

Center Ian Mahinmi #28

Forward Mike Scott #30

Guard/Forward Tomas Satoransky #31

Scott Brooks was the head coach.

That team would move on to the playoffs and face the Toronto Raptors in the first round before exiting.

With so much uncertainty about the Wizards this season, so far in the preseason they have been fun to watch. Kyle Kuzma’s leadership abilities shined in preseason games 1 and 2. Jordan Poole splashed at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks with a 41-point game performance. Mike Muscala has been a bright spot in the offseason pick-up conversation. Rookie Bilal Coulibaly has shown his defensive skillset and the focus he has on the offensive side of the ball as well. Returning players Daniel Gafford, Corey Kispert, and Delon Wright are showing early signs of starting the season where they left off in the 2022-2023 season.

Could the 3-0 preseason start be a sign that the Wizards are headed in the playoff direction like the 2017-2018 team? It is a long season and the Wizards are stating early to not count them out just yet.
