After a long regular season and falling short of the NBA Playoffs, many players tend to take a much needed getaway to clear their minds. These breaks tend to follow immediately after the season. We are about a week into the NBA Playiffs and a lot of these guys are returning from their vacations. Often times, you see athletes take a week off immediately after their season ends and get right back into the lab upon their return. With that being said, what must the Washington Wizards do to improve as a team playing in the Eastern Conference?

This season was not a fun season for the Wizards. There were a number of issues the team has struggled with. Health was an issue, defense was lackadaisical, and the team simply just didn’t play inspired basketball. There wasn’t enough energy or enthusiasm on the court from them at times. They were so inconsistent all season long.

One thing the Washington Wizards should focus on this offseason is working on their offense. They need to push the tempo a bit more. They played slow at times and it begin to look a bit too slow. The Wizards ranked 20th in points per game. The alarming reason behind that is the fact that they ranked 26th in fast break points per game.

The style of play made the offense much more difficult on them. In fact, it feels as if they made things harder then what they actually had to be. They don’t have a ton of playmakers or guys that can get their own shot. If they push the tempo a bit more, that will make the offense easier on everyone and lighten the load on the Wizards Big Three as well as Wes Unseld Jr too.
