2014 NFL draft rumors: Personnel man believes Derek Carr is draft's best QB

David Carr was the top pick in the 2002 NFL draft by the Texans. That didn't work out too well.

Carr's younger brother, Derek, isn't as highly touted coming out of Fresno State, but the 22-year-old's draft stock could be rising based on one veteran personnel man's opinion, which he expressed to NFL Network's Albert Breer on Monday.

The anonymous NFL staffer told Breer he believes Carr is the best quarterback of a class that includes former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel, Fiesta Bowl champion Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater and two-time national champion A.J. McCarron.

Carr led the nation with 5,083 passing yards and 50 touchdowns last season for the Bulldogs (11-2), who lost to USC in the Las Vegas Bowl. He completed 68.9 percent of his passes and had eight interceptions.
