Shad Khan on Jacksonville Jaguars' culture: Team not 'paid vacation in Florida'

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been cellar dwellers in the AFC South for as long as most of their fans can remember, but the team is finally starting to add some quality talent and head coach Gus Bradley has been working hard to change the attitude and culture of the locker room.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan is focused on changing the perception of his team more than anyone, and he wants to make it clear that his players will be held accountable and they must perform and show a willingness to leave it all on the field in order to make an impact with the team.

Specifically, he doesn't want anyone to feel like they are just going to Jacksonville for a nice paid vacation.

“There’s no sense of entitlement anymore,” Khan said, via Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. “You’re not going to have one of our ex-players saying he’s coming back from a paid vacation in Florida anymore.

“To me, when you come here [now], you absolutely feel the drive and the hunger, whether it’s on the business side or on the football side. You need that to become successful.

“Regrettably, we did have players who were really too comfortable -- they didn’t have pressure [on them].”

Khan's comments come after former cornerback Aaron Ross called his time in Jacksonville exactly that -- a “nice paid vacation to Florida.”

Bradley has done a fantastic job bringing over what he learned from his time with the Seattle Seahawks and that has led to the Jaguars looking like a team on the rise.

Add in their quality 2014 NFL draft class, and the team could finally turn the corner as long as No. 3 overall pick Blake Bortles is able to develop into the type of quarterback that the team is hoping he can be.
