GM says Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals discussed Mike Glennon trade

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have said all the right things regarding quarterback Mike Glennon, but actions speak louder than words and it's now clear the rumors about a potential trade were legit.

Tampa, for what its worth, has continually denied trade talks involving Glennon took place, suggesting that he's the quarterback of the future, but according to general manager Jason Licht, there were indeed talks to send Glennon to the Arizona Cardinals around the NFL draft.

They were just one of many teams with whom the Buccaneers held trade discussions.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with having exploratory trade talks; Licht wouldn't have been doing his job if he didn't at least listen, and there's a vast difference between actively attempting to trade a player and simply listening to proposals.

Still, the fact that the Bucs stomped their feet so adamantly when pressed on the topic of a Glennon trade does seem a little silly at this point.

As for the potential trade between the two clubs, there wasn't any word as to why a deal wasn't completed, though obviously Tampa didn't like what Arizona was offering. It also doesn't appear as if a deal could happen in the future either, as Licht jokingly suggested he wasn't going to be "bullied" into trading Glennon to the Cardinals and stated, "He's [Cardinals GM Steve Keim, a friend of Licht's] not getting him."
