The Dallas Cowboys will release quarterback Kyle Orton, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter

Orton had served as Tony Romo's backup since 2012. He made his only start as a Cowboy in Week 17 last season, after Romo had back surgery. Orton was last a full-time starter in 2010 with the Denver Broncos, when he threw for 3,653 yards, 20 TDs and 9 interceptions.
