San Francisco 49ers guard Alex Boone will not report to training camp
San Francisco 49ers guard Alex Boone will not report to training camp Wednesday. It had been expected that he would hold out in search of a new contract.
Boone has two years remaining on his deal, which would pay him a base salary of $2 million in 2014 and $1.2 million in 2015. The fourth-year right guard started all 16 games in each of the last two seasons.

Boone is not the only 49ers player angling for a new contract. Pro Bowl tight end Vernon Davis was also reportedly considering holding out, but he reported to camp Wednesday. On July 14, San Francisco announced a two-year extension with left tackle Joe Staley that would keep him under contract through 2019.
San Francisco can fine Boone $30,000 for every day of camp he misses.
