It's simple to see why Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is featured on one of three regional fantasy football-themed Sports Illustrated covers this week (there are four regional covers in total) and is ranked as the No. 1 running back in SI's fantasy rankings.

He is simply a threat to score every time he touches the ball.

In a December game against the Oakland Raiders, Charles scored five touchdowns (four receiving), shredding the Oakland defense on mostly screen passes. What's even more remarkable is that he finished the game with eight carries for just 20 yards.

Charles accounted for 35 percent of the Chiefs offense last season, and was the only NFL running back to lead his team in receiving targets, catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

His 1,980 yards from scrimmage were second in the NFL and the team rewarded him with a two-year, $18.1 million extension this offseason.
