Tennessee Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy will likely need season-ending shoulder surgery, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports.

McCarthy injured his shoulder in the Titans' preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers. Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt called the injury "significant" after the game.

Wyatt reports the linebacker will get a second opinion on his shoulder before having surgery.

McCarthy was the Titans' fourth-round draft pick in 2011.

Last season, McCarthy played in all 16 of the Titans games, and had 55 combined tackles and an interception. He started five games last season after starter Moise Fokou was injured. In the first depth chart released by the Titans, McCarthy was listed behind Wesley Woodyard and Fokou at linebacker.
