Richie Incognito has been cleared by the NFL to return for 'regular-season game participation,' according to a tweet Monday night from ESPNs Adam Schefter, citing a league source.

The news comes on the same day that Incognito landed in Tampa for a meeting with the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay was still undecided as to whether to offer him a workout, and no contract negotiations took place, according to media reports, but Bucs head coach Lovie Smith said no one deserves a death sentence and that he believes in second chances.

The 31-year-old free agent guard was suspended the final eight games of the 2013 season because of his involvement in a bullying and hazing scandal involving other Miami Dolphins linemen.
