The Chicago Bears have signed rookie safety Ahmad Dixon from the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad.
Dixon was drafted by the Cowboys in the seventh round of this year's NFL draft from Baylor. He was cut by the team and placed on waivers last Monday before landing with Minnesota.
The Bears waived cornerback Demontre Hurst in order to clear a roster spot for Dixon. Hurst spent last season on the Bears' practice squad.
Dixon played in three preseason games with the Cowboys. He led the team in tackles in the preseason opener, but was fined $22,050 for a hit on a defenseless receiver in the third preseason game.
Chicago lost to the Buffalo Bills in overtime 23-20 in Week 1.
