An MRI scan on Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Jake Matthews' left ankle came up negative, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.
According to the report, the tackle is scheduled to undergo further tests on his ankle.
Matthews did not return to action after injuring his ankle in the first half of Sunday's win over the New Orleans Saints. He was seen wearing a walking boot when he left the Georgia Dome.
Injuries to several superstars mar season-opening action
After the game, coach Mike Smith told reporters he not have an update on the tackle's status. Veteran Gabe Carimi could replace Matthews at left tackle.
The Falcons selected Matthews, 22, in the first round of this year's draft.
