Jacksonville Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart told the Florida Times-Union on Thursday that his ankle injury is progressing and that he expects to play Sunday against the Washington Redskins.

Gerhart was injured in the first half of the Jaguars 34-17 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles and did not practice on Wednesday.

NFL odds: Eagles visit Luck, favored Colts; more Week 2 lines

Gerhart, in his first season with Jacksonville after signing a three-year, $10.5 million contract in the offseason, had 18 carries for 42 yards in the loss. The team only rushed for 64 yards on 25 attempts.
