The Rams are close to a multi-year extension with defensive end Robert Quinn, Yahoo Sports' Rand Getlin reported on Friday.

The deal would be in the $15 million per season range for 4-6 years, according to Getlin, who reports "there is optimism is Quinn's camp that a deal can get done before Week 3."

Quinn, 24, was the 14th pick of the 2011 draft. He has 34.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles in four seasons with the Rams, including 19 sacks and seven forced fumbles last season, when he was named to his first Pro Bowl.

Quinn is currently scheduled to make about $3 million this season and about $6.9 million in 2015, Getlin reports.

Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, who was drafted three picks before Quinn in 2011, signed a $100 million deal — a record for a defensive player — last week.
