Colts Kicker Adam Vinatieri ruins perfect season
Sunday December 28th, 2014

Adam Vinatieri was vying to become the fourth kicker in NFL history to have a perfect season, but misfired on his second field goal attempt of Week 17 on Sunday.

Vinatieri lined up for a 46-yard field goal in the third quarter against the Tennessee Titans, but the kick sailed wide left.

Vinatieri entered the game 28 of 28 on field goals and 47 of 47 on extra points.

NFL playoff scenarios: What to know about Week 17

Only three other kickers have made every field goal and extra point attempt: Mike Vanderjagt with the Indianapolis Colts in 2003 (37 of 37 FG, 46 of 46 XP), Jeff Wilkins with the St. Louis Rams in 2000 (17 of 17 FG, 38 of 38 XP) and Gary Anderson in 1998 with the Minnesota Vikings (35 of 35 FG, 59 of 59 XP).

The Colts entered the fourth quarter with a 17-10 lead. Vinatieri made his first field goal attempt of the game, a 23-yarder in the second quarter, as well as two extra points.

Indianapolis has already clinched the AFC South at 10-5.
