Report: Chiefs expected to release WR Dwayne Bowe

The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to release wide receiver Dwayne Bowe on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports.

Bowe, 30, has three seasons left on a five-year, $56 million contract he signed in 2013. His current contract has a $14 million cap hit in 2015 and a $13 million hit in both 2016 and 2017.

The Chiefs are expected to sign former Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who previously played for head coach Andy Reid in Philadelphia.

In 15 games last season, Bowe caught 60 balls for 754 yards and zero touchdowns.

Bowe was the No. 23 pick in the 2007 draft and has played his entire eight-year career with Kansas City. He made the Pro Bowl in 2010 after catching 72 passes for 1,162 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The Chiefs finished No. 16 in total yards and No. 29 in passing yards last season. Tight end Travis Kelce led the team with 862 receiving yards as none of Kansas City’s receivers caught a touchdown.
