New York Giants sign former Cowboys DE George Selvie
The New York Giants have signed former Dallas Cowboys defensive end George Selvie, the seventh free agent to join New York in the last 10 days, the team announced on Friday afternoon.
Selvie, 28, spent the last two seasons with Dallas, where he started 29 of his 32 games and had 75 tackles and 10 sacks. He also recorded two tackles for a loss and 20 quarterback pressures last season.
The team did not report the terms of Selvie's contract, but Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the defensive end agreed to a one-year deal worth $1.4 million with a $200,000 signing bonus.

A five-year veteran, Selvie spent time with the St. Louis Rams, Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars before joining Dallas. He has 114 tackles, 13 sacks and three fumble recoveries in 68 career games.
Selvie was a seventh-round pick by St. Louis in 2010. The head coach of the Rams at the time was Steve Spagnuolo, who is the current defensive coordinator for the Giants. Prior to entering the NFL, Selvie was teammates with New York's two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul while the two played at the University of South Florida.
Selvie was enthusiastic about reuniting with his former coach and teammate. "It's a great opportunity for me. And I'm excited to be playing with JPP again, along with Spags," said Selvie. "[Spagnuolo] is a fiery guy. He wants everything to be perfect. He likes to blitz and get after the quarterback. I know he loves his defensive linemen, so I'm excited to be here with him."

The Giants finished last season 6-10 and third in the NFC East. The team was 22nd in points allowed, 29th in yards allowed and 19th in takeaway-to-turnover ratio.
