• New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles said there will be a competition at quarterback despite offensive coordinator Chan Gailey previously saying Geno Smith was the starter. Bowles says Smith will get first-team reps, while Ryan Fitzpatrick is second-string and Matt Simms is third. Rookie Bryce Petty will get reps throughout camp.
• New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruzsays his knee is now at 80 percent. Cruz missed the last 10 games of last season after tearing the patellar tendon in his right knee.
