Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin's hamstring injury could be the result of him reporting to organized team activities overweight.

Benjamin injured his left hamstring during OTAs last month and hurt his right hamstring in Tuesday's minicamp practice. He sat out Wednesday's practice and is likely to skip Thursday's as well.

“It could be as simple as weight,” Rivera said, according to the Charlotte Observer.“He did come in a little heavy and he had to work himself into shape. Or diet or something. We’re going to take a look at it and make sure it’s not a chronic issue with him. He’s too good a football player to have on the sideline.”

The Observer reports Benjamin was eight or nine pounds overweight when he reported for OTAs.

Benjamin is entering his second season in the NFL. He was tied for the team lead with 1,008 receiving yards last season and also led the team with nine touchdown receptions.
