Free agent defensive end Osi Umenyiora is interested in signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the New York Giants, according to multiple reports

Umenyiora, 33, played nine seasons with the Giants from 2003–12, where he won two Super Bowls and was named to the Pro Bowl twice. He spent the last two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons

Umenyiora played all 32 games for the Falcons over the last two seasons, but did not start at all in 2014 after starting 13 games the previous year. He played 31.2% of Atlanta’s defensive snaps last season, compared to 69.7% the year before.

Umenyiora has 85 career sacks, 75 with the Giants, and recorded double-digit sack totals three times. He is fourth on the Giants’ all-time sack list and 49th on the NFL’s all-time list.
