Report: Giants will sign WR James Jones to one-year deal

The New York Giants will sign free-agent wide receiver James Jones to a one-year deal, reports NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Jones, 31, spent last season with the Oakland Raiders, catching a career-high 73 passes for 666 yards and six touchdowns over 16 games (10 starts). He signed with the Raiders after playing seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers, who selected him in the third round of the 2007 NFL draft.

Jones started 16 games for the Packers in 2012 and caught a career-high 14 touchdown passes. In 2013, he caught 59 passes for a career-high 817 yards.

Over his eight NFL seasons, Jones has caught 383 passes for 4,971 yards and 43 touchdowns.

Jones will join a Giants group of receivers including returning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Odell Beckham Jr., and Victor Cruz, both healthy after hamstring and patellar tendon injuries, respectively.
