The New York Giants confirmed Sunday safety Bennett Jackson has a torn ACL and will be out for the season.

Jackson hurt his knee Saturday in a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the same game, safety Justin Currie fractured his ankle, and he will also be out for the year, according to the New York Daily News's Ralph Vacchiano.

The Giants have faced a plague of injuries at the safety position. Fifth-round pick Mykkele Thompson will miss the 2015 season as well with a torn Achilles.

Safeties Landon Collins, Cooper Taylor and Nat Berhe have all missed time with various ailments. Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Sunday all three are expected to return to practice this week.
