Johnny Manziel continued to sit out of practice due to soreness in his throwing elbow and will likely miss Saturday's preseason game against the Buccaneers, Browns head coach Mike Pettine said Wednesday.

The second-year coach also said the Browns are open to adding another quarterback, given the team has just two healthy signal-callers remaining in Josh McCown and Thad Lewis. Quarterback-turned-receiver Terrelle Pryor threw in some drills Wednesday, but the team isn't considering moving him back under center.

Manziel left Sunday's practice with elbow soreness and hasn't practiced since. The Browns are taking a cautious approach with the injury, which Pettine described as a “minor setback.”

Mike Pettine: Johnny Manziel has improved understanding of game

Manziel has shown improvement this preseason, but remains the team's backup for now.

He completed 10 of 18 passes for 118 yards in Cleveland's last preseason game against the Bills.
