The Carolina Panthers got a much earlier wake up call than expected on Sunday before the team’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

According to Ian Rapaport of NFL.com, the fire alarm in the downtown Seattle hotel where the Panthers are staying was activated around 5:30 a.m., forcing the players to gather in a nearby meeting space.

Conor Orr of NFL.com reported that the fire alarm was the cause of a prankster.

Up to an hour after the alarm went off, the players had still not been allowed to return to their rooms. Kickoff for the game is set for 4:05 p.m.

This is not the first time that the fire alarm has gone off at the hotel of a Seahawks’ opponent. The New England Patriots had the alarm activated in their hotel two times in three nights leading up to the Super Bowl.
