Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said Monday that he and general manager Rick Smith are dealing with backup quarterback Ryan Mallett internally, after Mallett missed the team’s charter flight to Miami for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins.

“We’re dealing with Ryan Mallett internally. Rick Smith and I. We’re talking about our options,” O’Brien said, according to the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain.

Mallett made the trip separate from the team, and said after the game that he missed the flight because of traffic.

The 27-year-old will be fined for missing the flight, reports McClain. Mallett was also fined during training camp when he missed practice because of a reported cell phone issue and alarm clock failure.

With Brian Hoyer at quarterback, the Texans fell to the Dolphins 44–26 on Sunday in Miami. Mallett did not see the field in the loss.
