Eagles left tackle Jason Peters carted off with back spasms, will not return
Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters was injured in Sunday night’s game against the Panthers and taken off the field on a cart. The team announced he was having X-rays on his lower back, but said later he would miss the rest of the game with lower back spasms.
Peters was able to get into the cart with some assistance and was laying flat on his back while it drove off.
Peters has started every game for the Eagles since missing the 2012 season with a torn Achilles tendon. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl in every season he’s played for Philadelphia and was an All-Pro selection in 2011 and 2013.
When Peters was injured, right guard Matt Tobin moved to left tackle and Dennis Kelly took Tobin’s spot at guard.
If Peters is lost for any significant amount of time, the Eagles will be without three of last year’s five starting linemen. Guards Evan Mathis and Todd Herremans were released during the off-season.
