Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the second official trailer for Concussion, a movie staring Will Smith that tells the story of the discovery of football-specific head trauma.

Smith plays Dr. Bennet Omalu, the neuropathologist who first discovered chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) after performing the autopsies on deceased Steelers players, including Hall of Famer Mike Webster. After his discovery, Omalu set out to convince the NFL that the sport had the potential to destroy the human brain.

The MMQB debuted the original trailer on Aug. 31. Peter Landesman, the movie's director, told The MMQB that he does not have an opinion on whether people should play football, but he hopes people can make informed decisions about participation in football based on what they learn from the movie.

“So now that you know that concussions can kill you and playing the sport can kill you, it’s on every parent and it’s on every college player, it’s on every high school player and professional player on whether you are going to let your child play,” Landesman said. “It’s the same with smoking, drinking and doing drugs ...We love to drink and be merry and be happy, we know it’s not good for us, but we do it. It’s about making adult choices.”

The movie is set to debut Christmas day.
