Watch: Vikings RB Adrian Peterson scores 100th career touchdown
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson became just the 23rd player in NFL history to record 100 career touchdowns Thursday, scoring in style on a nine-yard run with 3:26 left in the first quarter.
With the Vikings trailing the Arizona Cardinals 3–0, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater handed the ball to Peterson on a dive play designed to go off the right guard. Instead, Peterson made a huge cut to the left as his offensive line collapsed and proceeded to juke out three defenders on his way to the end zone.
The touchdown tied Peterson, who now has 95 rushing and five receiving touchdowns, with Hall of Fame running backs Curtis Martin and Franco Harris at 21st on the all-time touchdown list.
Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice holds the all-time touchdown record at 208.
After Peterson recorded the score, the Vikings posted a video to honor the achievement.
