The NFL playoffs kick off this weekend with the Houston Texans hosting the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Saturday, the Bengals will attempt to win their first playoff game since 1990.

• The Cleveland Browns have hired New York Mets vice president of player development and scouting Paul DePodesta as chief strategy officer, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

• Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula has given head coach Rex Ryan and general manager Doug Whaley a one-year ultimatum: Make the postseason or they’ll both be fired, reports the Buffalo News’ Vic Carucci.

• Chat Sports: Four non-playoff teams that will make 2016 postseason

• Former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Cary Williams has signed with the Washington Redskins, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Williams started the first 10 games of the season for Seattle before being released on Dec. 7.

• Former Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan will interview for the San Francisco 49ers’ head coaching vacancy Wednesday, reports ESPN’s Dianna Marie Russini.

• The Browns will interview New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia for their vacant head coaching position, reports Schefter.

• The Indianapolis Colts have fired defensive coordinator Greg Manusky, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

• Former USC head coach Steve Sarkisian has told NFL teams that he’s interested in a quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator position, reports Schefter.
