Broncos halt Patriots' comeback to win AFC Championship, advance to eighth Super Bowl
Sunday January 24th, 2016

Rob Gronkowski’s 40-yard reception on fourth down late in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Broncos gave the Patriots a chance to save their season.

Facing fourth-and-10 from midfield, Tom Brady’s pass to Gronkowski set the Patriots up with a first-and-goal. Four plays later, Gronkowski scored a touchdown, but the two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

The Patriots failed to recover the ensuing onside kick and Denver won 20–18 to advance to the Super Bowl.

Gronkowski finished the day with eight receptions for 144 yards and the touchdown.
