Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson has informed coach Jim Caldwell that he plans to retire. Drafted out of Georgia Tech, second overall by the Lions in 2007, Johnson has spent his entire nine-year career in Detroit, leading the league in receiving twice and earning six trips to the Pro Bowl. Johnson, 30, finishes his career with seven 1,000-yard receiving seasons. During the 2012 season, he set the NFL’s single-season record with 1,964 receiving yards.
