We have our first catch controversy of the Super Bowl.

Midway through the first quarter, Panthers receiver Jerricho Cotchery tried making a bobbling catch but it was ruled incomplete on the field. Carolina challenged the play, and despite CBS analyst and former referee Mike Carey believing the call should be overturned, the officials upheld the incomplete ruling on the field.

Denver scored on a defensive touchdown soon after the incomplete pass.
