Patriots release Montee Ball after arrest
The New England Patriots have released practice squad running back Montee Ball following his arrest last week, the NFL’s transaction report for Tuesday shows.
Ball was arrested last Friday for allegedly pushing his girlfriend into a table, and was jailed on a substantial battery charge. Ball’s girlfriend told police he “picked her up and threw her,” and that she required stitches in her leg for the injuries she sustained, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
Ball, 25, played in 21 games over two seasons for the Denver Broncos, who selected him in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft, before he was released prior to this season.
