The Raiders have signed a one-year extension to their lease at O.co Coliseum in Oakland, with additional one-year options in 2017 and 2018, the team announced Thursday.

If the Chargers choose not to join the Rams in Los Angeles, the NFL left the door open for the Raiders to move to L.A. in 2017.

The team has also hired Larry MacNeil, who was involved the 49ers’ move to Levi’s Stadium, as a consultant to help evaluate stadium options in Oakland.

The Raiders played at the Coliseum from 1966 to 1981, moved to Los Angeles and returned in 1995. They share the stadium with MLB’s Oakland A’s and both teams have sought to move to new venues for years.
