With the No. 91 pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the New England Patriots select NC State quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

GRADE: C-

The real story here is Connor Cook falling completely off the map in the opening three rounds. Even though Brissett has his fans, this is a long-term play—he doesn’t process the game quickly enough to be successful in the near future. He’s QB2 with Tom Brady suspended and then QB3 for as long as Jimmy Garoppolo is around. –Chris Burke

Strengths: Brissett is built to withstand pressure in the pocket, an area where he’s already comfortable given that NC State runs a pro style offense. A strong arm and natural escapability make him a complete and intriguing physical presence. His career TD-INT ratio (46–15) illustrates how he takes care of the ball. –Melissa Jacobs

Weaknesses: Uncomfortable taking chances, instead relying on checkdowns, footwork. Using eyes to his advantage needs improvement. –MJ
