Former Detroit Lions receiver Brett Perriman has been hospitalized in the Miami area, according to multiple reports.

Perriman’s son Breshad, a receiver with the Baltimore Ravens, confirmed the news on Twitter.

Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reported Perriman had a brain aneurysm. CBS Miami quoted an unnamed family member who said Perriman had “an extremely high blood pressure.”

Perriman starred in college at Miami as a member of the 1987 national champions and played for the Lions, Chiefs and Dolphins in the NFL. He retired with 525 catches for 6,589 yards and 30 touchdowns.
