Chargers receiver Keenan Allen out for season with torn ACL

Chargers wideout Keenan Allen will miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with a torn ACL, the team announced Monday

Allen was carted off the field during Sunday’s game against the Chiefs with with a right knee injury and will not return, the team announced.

Allen was running a route in the second quarter, and broke for the sideline when his knee appeared to buckle without much contact. He was very distraught riding the cart back to the locker room.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that the Chargers believed Allen’s injury was an ACL tear.

The 24-year-old is in his fourth season out of California, and coming off an injury-shortened 2015 season that saw him catch 67 passes for 725 yards and four touchdowns in just eight games. 

Travis Benjamin is next on the depth chart at receiver.
