Through two weeks, Von Miller is still on fire
Trevor Siemian is 2–0 in his first two NFL starts, defeating former No. 1 picks Cam Newton and Andrew Luck in the process. How has he done it? With the help of a defense that’s still playing at the level it did in a dominant Super Bowl 50 performance.
Unsurprisingly, the leader of the Broncos defense is still Von Miller, who picked up three more sacks against Luck and the Colts in a 34–20 win Sunday. Miller, the Super Bowl 50 MVP, was outstanding in Denver’s championship-clinching game in February, picking up 2 1/2 sacks and two forced fumbles. With the lights shining a little less bright Sunday, Miller was equally great, taking down Luck three times and forcing a fumble that led to a game-clinching touchdown.

Miller—who’s on pace for 32 sacks this year (small sample size!)—has an uncanny ability to dial up the pressure when the Broncos need it most. His sacks don’t only end drives, they create scoring chances for a team in desperate need of points however they can get them.
For now, Miller is proving he is worth every dollar of the massive contract he held out for in the off-season. He’s been a dominant force, registering four sacks in two games, and leading a defense that’s carrying an offense still putting things together. If Siemian continues to improve, the Broncos will be every bit the contender they were last season.
