San Diego Chargers linebacker Manti Te'o suffered a torn Achilles and will be out for the season after the team's 26–20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Te'o felt his Achilles pop in the first quarter and was spotted on the sidelines on crutches for the second half. He underwent an MRI on Monday that confirmed the injury.

Chargers head coach Mike McCoy confirmed Monday that Te’o tore his Achilles, saying “It’s a shame.”

“Everything happens for a reason,” Te'o told reporters after the game. “I live by a quote that says, 'God puts mountains in front of you to show other people that it can be moved.' My faith is strong and I know that I will be all right.”

Jatavis Brown was used in Te'o's absence.

Te'o joins running back Danny Woodhead, receiver Keenan Allen and receiver Stevie Johnson as other Chargers players that are out for the season due to knee injuries. Te'o has missed 13 games in his three-year NFL career due to ankle and foot injuries.
