Report: Roethlisberger has torn meniscus in left knee, will undergo surgery
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a torn left meniscus which will require surgery, Ron Cook of the Post-Gazette reports.
Roethlisberger left Sunday’s 30–15 loss to the Miami Dolphins with what the team called a left knee injury but returned for Pittsburgh’s first series of the second half.
He completed five of nine passes for 41 yards and an interception before he was injured.
Roethlisberger was taken to the locker room for evaluation and replaced under center by Landry Jones.
Roethlisberger missed four games last season with a left knee injury.
Jones started two games for the Steelers last year after injuries to Roethlisberger and backup Michael Vick. He completed 32 of 55 passes for 513 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions.
Pittsburgh (4–2) plays the New England Patriots next Sunday and then have a bye in Week 8.
