Fantasy Football: Week 7 WR Rankings

WR Start of the Week: Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys (vs. PHI)

Amari Cooper (thigh) sat out Wednesday’s practice and his availability for Sunday’s matchup against the Eagles is in doubt. If Cooper is unable to go on Sunday night, Gallup turns into a top-12 play in a fantasy-friendly matchup.

Gallup missed a few games earlier this season himself, but he had a minimum of seven targets in each of the four games he has played. In those performances, he had six receptions in all but one game and four-plus receptions every week. On the season, Gallup has 24 catches for 387 yards (96.8 per game) and a touchdown on 36 targets.

No team has allowed more fantasy points to opposing wide receivers than the Eagles (33.0 per game). In addition, the Eagles have allowed six 100-yard receivers over the first six weeks, including a 7/167/3 line to Minnesota’s Stefon Diggs last week.

WR Sit of the Week: Robby Anderson, New York Jets (vs. NE)

With the return of Sam Darnold last week, Robby Anderson had his best game of the season (5/125/1 on eight targets). Before that, he had fewer than 25 yards in three of four games.

Anderson has the talent to have a good game based on one big play (similar to last week’s 92-yard touchdown), but he draws a difficult matchup against one of the league’s best cornerbacks in Stephon Gilmore. The more likely outcome is a quiet game for Anderson.

Earlier this season, Anderson had just three catches for 11 yards against the Patriots, although that matchup was without Darnold. But as Matt Stypulkoski of NJ.com notes, Anderson has just nine catches for 59 yards in four games against New England since Gilmore became a Patriot.

Outside of my top-30 wide receivers for the week, Anderson isn’t much more than a WR3 or flex option in Week 7.
