The Bengals don't expect A.J. Green to return before the trade deadline on Oct. 29, according to the NFL's Adam Schefter.

Cincinnati will then "assess [Green's] progress and make a determination," on when the wide receiver will return to the field, per Schefter.

Green has not played in 2019. He tore ligaments in his left ankle during the Bengals' first training camp practice of the season on July 28.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor shut down trade rumors regarding Green on Oct. 10.

“I’ve heard the speculation. We are not trading that guy," Taylor told the media in Cincinnati.

The Georgia product has logged 1,000-plus receiving yards in six of eight NFL seasons. He played in just nine games last year, catching 46 passes and six touchdowns.

Green is a seven-time Pro Bowler. He is second in Bengals history in yards, receptions and receiving touchdowns, trailing Chad Johnson in all three categories.
