Raiders Fire Defensive Line Coach Frank Okam, per Report

The Raiders fired defensive line coach Frank Okam on Sunday night after just one season with the team, sources told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The Raiders’ defensive line recorded just 21 1/2 sacks this past season. The team’s total of 27 sacks was the third-lowest mark among the NFL’s 32 teams. Defensive end Maxx Crosby accounted for 12 1/2 of those sacks.

The Raiders and coach Josh McDaniels have not announced a replacement for Okam.

Prior to Okam’s work with the Raiders, he served for two seasons with the Panthers. Before that, Okam worked as defensive line coach at Baylor and Rice.

Okam played as a defensive tackle in the NFL from 2008–11. He originally was drafted by the Texans, where he spent 2 1/2 seasons before being traded to the Buccaneers.
